Public Land Healing Transformation

In October 2025, I was called to carry out a public land healing at River Road Market Place and Memorial Park.

At the time, the space had become somewhat neglected and underutilized. There was significant graffiti and damage, and the park had increasingly become a place where people experiencing homelessness were gathering. Over time, it had developed a reputation for feeling uncomfortable and, at times, unsafe.

I regularly visited the coffee shop located behind Mary Street, opposite the entrance to Memorial Park. One day, my daughter refused to get out of the car because a woman experiencing homelessness was verbally abusing patrons nearby. My daughter was frightened, and the experience really stayed with me. Not long afterwards, I received a strong intuitive calling to work with the land. So, in October 2025, I carried out a public land healing of the area.

Working with the land

As I do with my land healing work, I used dowsing and intuition to identify areas within the space that felt energetically disturbed or out of balance. The work included addressing what I identified as geopathic stress associated with the history of flooding in the area, non-beneficial ley-line activity, old earthquake lines and energetic disturbances within the land. There was also what I perceived as a portal around the marketplace area, which I worked with and closed.

Within Memorial Park itself, I identified several earthbound spirits. These were worked with so that the spirits could cross over and the land could be returned to a more settled state.

For me, land healing isn’t simply about the physical appearance of a property. It is about acknowledging that land holds history. Places can carry layers of human experience, environmental events, trauma, emotion and activity over many years. When I work with land, I approach it with respect, intention and the understanding that the land itself is part of the healing process.

Then something interesting happened…

By December 2025, I noticed that the people who had been regularly gathering in the Market Place had largely moved on. Then, as we moved into 2026, I began watching the physical space transform. Council cleaned up the area. Fresh paint appeared. The space started looking cared for again. And then came something I found particularly meaningful. The area was eventually utilised for a rally car event, bringing people back into a space that had, for a long time, felt forgotten and dormant.

More recently, the local coffee shop has temporarily relocated into the Market Place while roadworks are being carried out. The atmosphere feels different! There is more activity, more people using the space and a greater sense that this part of town is once again being integrated into the community.

And that is one of the things I love about land healing. Sometimes the changes aren’t dramatic or immediate. Sometimes you simply begin to notice that things start moving again.

A space that felt stagnant begins to be used.

An area that felt uncomfortable becomes more welcoming.

People return.

The physical environment changes.

And slowly, the land feels different.

A space returning to community

I don’t claim that a land healing is the sole reason for everything that happened afterwards. Council decisions, community needs, roadworks and many other practical factors naturally play their part in how a public space changes. But I do find it fascinating to observe what unfolds after I have been called to work with a particular piece of land. In this case, I witnessed a space that had felt neglected and energetically unsettled begin to transform over the following months. For me, this is a beautiful reminder that land is not simply something we build upon.

It has its own history.

It holds memory.

And sometimes, when we take the time to acknowledge and work with what has been sitting within a place, we create an opportunity for something new to emerge.

I am currently working on another public space in our community that is struggling to thrive. I hope that I can share the transformation of this area with a new and fresh energy! Time will only tell x

This is the work I do as The Soul & Home Alchemist — supporting people, properties and families through land healings, house clearings and nervous system restoration, directed by dowsing and intuition.
